Glenmarkie Wind Farm Proposal

Vattenfall is in the early stages of exploring a potential wind farm proposal at Glenmarkie in the Scottish Highlands.

The site lies approximately 16km east of the village of Fort Augustus and 8km south-east from the settlement of Whitebridge.

Public Exhibitions

This week we are holding a series of public exhibitions to engage with the community and gather views on the proposal. The exhibitions have been advertised in the local newspapers and we have also written out to over 2,000 local households to help raise awareness of the events.

Tuesday 11th November:

  • 3pm - 6pm Laggan Hall, Gergask Avenue, Laggan Bridge, PH20 1AH

Wednesday 12th November:

  • 10am - 1pm Glenmoriston Millenium Hall, Invermoriston, IV63 7YA
  • 3pm - 7pm The Wildside Centre, Whitebridge, IV2 6UN

Thursday 13th November:

All the exhibition information, including an online ‘feedback form’ (for people to provide feedback to Vattenfall on the project at this stage), can be viewed by entering the virtual exhibition below. Feedback at this early stage could help shape the design and delivery of the project, so please take the time to share your views.

Public Exhibitions

To view the information presented at the local public exhibition events just click on the link below.

Anyone wishing to provide feedback to Vattenfall on the Glenmarkie Wind Farm proposal at this stage can do so in writing by filling in a ‘feedback form’ at the exhibitions (or via the virtual exhibition above), by emailing or writing to the Glenmarkie Wind Farm Project Team, (details below).

Please note that any comments submitted to Vattenfall on the proposal at this time are not representations to the determining authority (Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit). Should a formal Section 36 application for consent be submitted for this proposal there will be an opportunity at that time for people to submit formal comments to the determining authority.

Scoping Report

In September 2025 we submitted a Scoping Report to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU) seeking feedback on the proposed scope of environmental site survey work which will help inform the design. The Scoping Report sets out an early design layout, comprising of up to 65 turbines with tip heights of up to 250m.
