Glenmarkie Wind Farm Proposal
Vattenfall is in the early stages of exploring a potential wind farm proposal at Glenmarkie in the Scottish Highlands.
The site lies approximately 16km east of the village of Fort Augustus and 8km south-east from the settlement of Whitebridge.
Consulting on the early design
In November we held a series of public exhibitions to engage with the community on the early scoping design and gather views on the proposal. The events were advertised in the local newspapers and we also wrote out to over 2,000 local households to help raise awareness of the events.
We are now in the process of reviewing the feedback responses received.

Scoping Report
In September 2025 we submitted a Scoping Report to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU) seeking feedback on the proposed scope of environmental site survey work which will help inform the design. The Scoping Report sets out an early design layout, comprising of up to 65 turbines with tip heights of up to 250m.
