Clashindarroch II Community Benefit
We are working with Community Chartering Network (CNN) to support a resident-led process during 2026 and 2027 to explore whether a new model and structure for the Clashindarroch II community benefit fund could be developed.
CNN is building on the earlier Just Transition Communities Project in Huntly and surrounding areas. That project explored residents’ priorities and identified interest in greater community control over local funding.
A local Working Group representing the Parishes and Community Councils is overseeing the process, with engagement widening across all areas eligible for community benefit. The first step is to understand what residents value most and where there is broad agreement on local priorities.
The findings will be shared back with communities, with opportunities for residents to review, contribute and help shape what happens next. The process is at an early stage, and further updates will be shared as the work develops.
Once operational, Clashindarroch II is expected to provide approximately £315,000 per year in community benefit funding. Together with the existing Clashindarroch Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund, this is expected to contribute to more than £500,000 in annual community benefit funding.
Across communities near Vattenfall’s wind farms, community funding has supported local schools, community buildings, transport, businesses and charities.
