Wider benefits

By redesigning the site, the proposed 16-turbine, 105.6MW scheme is expected to generate renewable electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of around 127,000 UK homes¹—almost four times that of the original scheme’s 22,000 homes.
The project is projected to avoid approximately 177,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year² (compared to a fossil fuel mix of electricity generation).
Based on current lifecycle assessment data, the project is expected to achieve carbon payback within approximately 1.3 years², taking into account manufacturing, construction, operation and decommissioning. Vattenfall has set a target to recycle all wind turbine blades by 2030³.
