Rhyd Ddu wind energy project

Rhyd Ddu is a wind farm proposal located to the South West of Llanerfyl, Powys. The site is within one of seven Strategic Search Areas (SSAs) designated by the Welsh Government for the development of large scale wind energy projects.

Current Status

In 2009, a scoping report was sent to key consultees on the project proposal. This was followed by a series of drop-in days with the local community to gain their feedback and ideas. The project design and research is ongoing.

Further engagement will take place with local communities and stakeholders to develop a final project proposal.

What can the project offer to the area?

It is a company and project priority that we ensure that our investment brings appropriate benefit and opportunity to the region’s economy, environment and communities.

With the project and final details yet to be developed, we will continue our dialogue with local communities and stakeholders to ensure that they have your say and influence the opportunities that they would expect to see a project of this nature offer the area.

We have developed a range of opportunities through other projects in our portfolio – from developing large scale plans to improve local habitats, to improvements to attract tourists; work to train the local supply chain to work in renewable energy to community funds. We have also undertaken a number of education projects across Wales and the UK to make sure that young people have the opportunity to get involved and contribute their ideas.

We will work with local communities, businesses and stakeholders to prioritise the right issues to develop the best possible wind power project. Further updates from Rhyd Ddu wind energy project’s will be available in the near future on the next phase project’s development.
