Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project

The Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project is a 76 turbine development in the county boroughs
of Neath Port Talbot and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Project background

In April 2008 following a tender process run by Natural Resources Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government, Vattenfall (then Nuon Renewables) was chosen as the preferred developer to look at developing a wind energy project.

The project is a 76 turbine development located on an area of land within the Welsh Government's Woodland Estate.

Current status

Tree clearance work has now begun onsite and will continue until we commence construction in 2014. Site investigation works onsite are expected to commence in December 2012 as well as work on the new mountain bike trail, which will be built before construction works commence.
