Edinbane
Vattenfall acquired the Edinbane Wind Farm development in October 2008. Edinbane Wind Farm is situated on the Isle of Skye.

- The Edinbane wind farm consists of 18 Enercon 2.3 MW wind turbines, with a maximum tip height of 100 metres.
- The substation has been constructed on site by Scottish and Southern Energy.
- Preliminary construction commenced in early 2008, whilst main site works commenced during August 2008.
- Wind turbines started to arrive during late summer 2009 and construction completed during June 2010.
- This 41.4 MW development harnesesses the excellent wind resource on the Isle of Skye. The wind farm produces enough electricity to power over 22,000 homes.
Benefits to the local area
A range of potential benefits may accrue to the area from this development, including:
- The total investment for completing the wind farm is in excess of £50 million. A proportion of this is being spent locally with consequential benefits for local suppliers and services.
- Local contractors and workers are currently being used in support of the development.
- Making a significant contribution towards Scotland’s renewable targets to help tackle the problems of climate change and making electricity clean.
